Ashiatsu Massage

Arrive in easily washable clothes as you will have a small amount of oil or cream on your skin when your session is through. You will be asked to disrobe leaving only your underwear but you will always be modestly draped with a sheet.

Ashiatsu is done on a padded mat on the floor much like the mat used in Thai Yoga Massage.

A typical Thai Massage session 45 minutes to 75 minutes long depending on needs.

Additional tips

  • Arrive a few minutes early so that you can take some deep breaths before beginning your session
  • Don’t eat a heavy meal before the massage
  • Be sure that your Massage Therapist has your complete medical history
  • If you feel discomfort at any time, inform your Massage Therapist

**People with high blood pressure should not receive deep tissue massage**

 

Ashiatsu dates back as far as the 12th century.

The person was prone on a mat and the body was covered in special oils, the practitioner would grab a rope overhead for balance while performing ritualistic massage with bare feet. The technique was given in conjunction with following the energy lines, similar to Thai massage. It was performed with the foot sliding quickly from one end of the body to the other.
